I visited Vietnam in 1998. It was a very fascinating trip. It was a very beautiful country with very friendly people. Since I travelled with my family it was hard to only visit battlegrounds, but I managed to look at some places. The places that we visited was Saigon, Hué, Da Nang, Pan Thiet; Na Trang, Hoi An among others. Unfortunately we didn't have time to go to the northern parts but maybe next time.
